European Congress Month

Updated: Nov 5, 2019

This September has been a jet-set month for Woolford Medical Media as we travelled around Europe attending the biggest congresses in medical healthcare.

From Cardiology to Oncology, Respiratory and Diabetes, we have witnessed some inspirational symposiums, immersed ourselves in the latest research and learnt about some amazing pharmaceuticals. We feel it is incredibly important to attend these events to develop our understanding in each therapy area and talk to front-line healthcare professionals about the media resources which best serve them.

The month began in Paris when we attended the European Society of Cardiology, an event too important to miss. This event focused on global cardiovascular health and managing cardiovascular diseases around the world. The new ESC Textbook of Cardiovascular Medicine was under the spotlight at the Oxford University Press stand. The book strongly supports the new ESC Cardiology guidelines, providing the background information with in-depth peer-reviewed articles and broad coverage of the field. This event was also an opportunity for us to show off our new 3D animated cardiology app, a handy pocket tool for cardiologists.

Next we were at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. Our Director, Hannah, took part in the 5km run/walk to change Diabetes. The important message emphasised by this race of 1000 people was to raise awareness for the value of increased physical activity, to prevent diabetes and diabetes complications. Woolford Medical Media also demonstrated the various anatomical models we have which can help health care professionals educate their patients. These kinaesthetic resources are important as diabetes patients vastly range in age and ability.

September ended in Spain as we hopped between Barcelona and Madrid for The European Society for Medical Oncology and ERS International Congress for Respiratory. At ESMO we were proud to be able to talk and make plans for the Oncology Educational Platform. After a busy month, we were happy to take part in the stand-out-sessions of ERS which put us into the seat of a physician in diagnosing and prescribing medicine.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to share a coffee with us and discuss their projects. These congresses are vital to the pharmaceutical industry for sharing research, developing medicine and advancing global healthcare.
